The Isle of Skye Half Marathon

The ever popular Isle of Skye Half Marathon has been going for 28 years and takes place annually in June. The run leaves from the Fingal Centre at Portree High School and goes along the Peiness Road joining the main Portree to Dunvegan Road, up to Prabost, on to Kensalyre, up THAT hill at Drummuie and back to the Fingal Centre – a distance of 13.1 miles.

This year’s event  proved to be a great success with over 340 entered in the Half Marathon and over 100 in the Fun Run. It was also another great year for Skye runners with Hugh Campbell defending his title this year after becoming the first ever Skye male to win the race last year. Hugh Campbell, running on behalf of local charity ‘Lucky2bhere’, smashed last year’s time by almost a minute.

Over the last five years Lucky2bhere has been closely involved in the Half Marathon and our initial fundraising efforts were largely achieved through people running for the Charity. This has included all sorts of levels of fitness and people setting their own targets. It’s not possible to mention all the focused and committed folk who have supported us and made the effort to run but they know who they are and we thank them for taking part and raising money and helping us to provide defibs and other life saving equipment in rural areas.

We hope to continue our involvement with the Half Marathon and are always looking for others to run in future events. It’s a great day out with fantastic hospitality and sunshine guaranteed!! Contact Ross for L2BH running vests ross@rosscowie.com
