Lucky2BHere is a registered Charity which has five Trustees and is run by a Committee as follows

TRUSTEES

Stephen Leslie

steve

Originally from Nairn and returned, after 19 years training in Edinburgh, to the Highlands in 2006 as a consultant cardiologist for NHS Highland based at Raigmore. Stephen is the clinical lead for the Heart Failure and is particularly keen to make sure that all patients in the Highlands get the best possible access to cardiac care, regardless of where they live. "The work done by Lucky2Bhere has been a fantastic success due to Ross and others and the huge community spirit. The provision of defibrillators bought by funds raised is excellent and the education of people and especially school children is crucial to ensure that they are used appropriately."

Douglas Smith

Douglas has had a home on Skye for more than 30 years. He is semi-retired having had a 30 year career in Architecture and Design. At present he owns a hotel in Stromness, Orkney.Douglas and Ross have been friends for 25 years and enjoy golfing and walking together. When invited by Ross to become a Trustee, Douglas had no hesitation in accepting. He is hopeful of helping the rural island communities of Orkney with the installation of defibrillators together with ELS training.Douglas is married to Pamela Smith who, along with Megan Cowie, raised almost £14,000 for Lucky2bhere by swimming from Raasay to Portree

Malcolm Jones

malcolm

Malcolm Jones is from Portree, Isle of Skye, and for (almost) longer than he can remember has been a member of celtic rock band Runrig. The many twists and turns of the band's career has taken him from the smallest village halls to the biggest concert venues throughout Europe and beyond. However, he likes nothing better than returning to Skye, to his personal and professional roots.Malcolm shares not only the happy distinction with Ross Cowie, founder of Lucky2BHere, of being a Portree boy, but also the more sobering fact they both owe much to the quick and professional actions of a Medical Response Unit - in Malcolm's case after his unexpected collapse in 2009.

Lucky2BHere has achieved great things in a short time and Malcolm is delighted to lend support to such a worthwhile organisation.

Phil Cunningham

Phil was awarded a MBE for his services to Scottish Music in 2002.Before he was 40, Phil had two Heart Attacks and therefore has a keen interest in the work of Lucky2BHere.

Angus MacDonald is one of three piping brothers from Glenuig in Moidart. Since 1993, Angus has practiced as a medical doctor in Skye, moving back from Cape Breton, Canada, where he had lived and worked for 11 years. Dr Angus MacDonald’s musical influences were formed growing up in Glenuig and from visits to his mother’s people in South Uist where the piping tradition was especially strong. He has also been influenced by the music and Gaelic song he heard in Cape Breton in the years that he lived there. He is the Vice Chair of Lucky2BHere and supports the efforts of providing emergency life saving equipment in rural areas.
