One of the objectives of Lucky2BHere is to empower communities to allow them take responsibility for their own situations. Our approach to the provision of defibrillators has always been on the basis of the demand shown from an area and a pro-active contact who we can work with and who will organize things at a local level.
COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY
- Identify suitable central, accessible location for the defibrillator.
- Notify Lucky2BHere of the equipment required – Indoor/Outdoor Cabinet etc
- Organise fundraising to contribute to cost of the equipment. There is no specified level of funding requested by Lucky2BHere but we do expect a community to raise as much as they can given their own circumstances.
- Identify people for training in ELS/Use of the defibrillator. Minimum of 10
- Liaise with the Heartstart Team – suitable date and time for training and arrange venue.
- Once training is completed and the equipment is in place, a Community is expected to provide 2 contacts, their phone numbers, detail of the exact location of the defibrillator and a photo for inclusion on our website location map.
- Ensure that the defibrillator is publisised within the community through the production of a widely circulated leaflet. Templates are available for communities to adapt to meet their own needs.
- Ensure that there is appropriate, clearly visible signage for the equipment.
- Ensure that the equipment is in a good state of repair and notify Lucky2BHere of any replacement pads needed. Check the equipment and battery regularly.
