About Us

The aim of Lucky2BHere is to raise funds to help reduce response times, particularly in rural areas and hopefully to save lives.

Lucky2BHere is a fundraising initiative set up by Ross Cowie of Portree, who suffers from cardiomyopathy, a genetic heart condition.

STOP PRESS - GOBI Challenge

This June, Donnie Nicolson & Robert Holding
will be taking part in the Gobi Challenge.

Over the period of a week they will cover between 130 and 140 miles on foot while carrying our food, provisions and mandatory safety gear. The Mongolian Gobi desert is a land of extremes with its imposing sand dunes, towering mountains and seemingly endless sun-baked desert plains. With temperatures soaring above 40C in summer.

Also this year just to make things interesting they will be cycling to the start line. This will be 450 miles, all off road, which will take 6 days.

We are delighted that they are doing this to raise money for Lucky2bhere and will also be making a donation to Crossroads Care.

To keep up to date with Donnie & Robert's preparations, keep visiting http://lucky2bhere.ning.com

Please sponsor Donnie and Robert, which you can do simply and securely on their "JustGiving" page at http://www.justgiving.com/gobi-challenge

Lucky2BHere installs life saving defibrillators in rural locations and trains users
Lucky2BHere installs life saving defibrillators in rural locations and trains users

In Dec 2006, Ross suffered a cardiac arrest. His life was saved, only by very quick response by local ambulance crews, doctors, nurses and helicopter paramedics who happened to be in the vicinity.

To help the people who helped him, Ross setup Lucky2BHere is to raise funds to help reduce response times, particularly in rural areas and hopefully to save more lives.

This includes the purchase of specialist equipment as well as the organisation and provision of relevant first responder training courses, such as CPR. This is delivered in conjunction with the local ambulance service, nurses, doctors and the national charity First Response
